On the site of an old orchard in the popular village of Beadnell on Northumberland's outstandingly beautiful Heritage Coast The Orchards apartments offer the ideal romantic retreat for discerning couples who appreciate a touch of luxury within walking distance of fabulous sandy beaches and welcoming inns. Each of these newly built apartments enjoys sumptuous furnishings and superbly comfortable beds contemporary bathrooms and stylish kitchens and those on the lower floor benefit from large arched windows overlooking a shared courtyard and patio. Beadnell's lovely much photographed harbour with its fishing boats and fantastic views of the bay is a pleasant stroll away and the surrounding coastal area offers wonderful walking suitable for all abilities. A cycle track leads north to Seahouses (2 miles) and water sports are available on the beach in season.
A little further up the coast lies Bamburgh its magnificent castle looking out over miles of sandy beaches and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne (which can be accessed by causeway at low tide) whilst a short trip inland reaches the market town of Alnwick. Here a visit to the contemporary Water Gardens – complete with a restaurant in the world's largest tree house – is a must.
There are two pubs serving food and a village store/post office in Beadnell whilst a greater selection of shops and places to eat can be found in Seahouses which also boasts an attractive working harbour from where boat trips depart (in season) for the fascinating bird and seal colonies on the Farne Islands.
